When clients walk into a beautifully furnished office, community center, or school, they see polished workspaces and smart layouts. What they don’t see is the team behind the scenes bringing furniture projects to life! These are some of the people who often remain unseen but who also make every furniture order and installation run seamlessly from concept to completion.
At FriendsOffice, our Furniture Department is the heartbeat of these projects. They coordinate quotes, track orders, solve problems, and ensure every delivery and installation happens smoothly. Today, we’re highlighting Furniture Project Coordinator David Hamilton and Furniture Department Administrators Riane VanScoder and Laura Fahl, the team that makes furniture projects happen the way they’re designed.
David Hamilton, Furniture Project Coordinator
David Hamilton wears a lot of hats, and he wears them well. His primary role is furniture project coordination, which means he is involved in almost every step of a project.
“I’m initially involved with quoting install labor and coordinating details with our account executives, designers, and the furniture administration team,” David explains. “From there, I follow each project through shipping, receiving, and final installation.”
What David Does:
- Visits job sites to check in with installers and customers
- Coordinates shipping, receiving, and final installs
- Follows up post-installation to ensure a positive customer experience
- Assists with warehouse unloading and even assembles chairs when needed
- Manages vehicle and fleet compliance, ensuring trucks are properly licensed and ready for interstate and intrastate travel
Why He Loves It:
“It’s fun watching a project come to life, from design to install. Getting a call or email from a happy customer makes it all worth it,” David says. “Truthfully, working closely with our Furniture Admin and Purchasing teams might be my favorite part—we all support each other every day.”
Fun fact: David’s favorite long-term “project” is a spider plant at his desk that he’s kept alive for three years!
Riane VanScoder, Furniture Department Administrator
As a Furniture Department Administrator, Riane is one of the first people to touch a project after it leaves the design and sales stage.
What Riane Does:
- Creates sales quotes based on customer needs, product availability, and budget
- Places orders, tracks lead times, and files claims for any damaged or missing items
- Acknowledges orders to double-check shipping addresses and ensure nothing is missed
- Monitors backorders to keep projects moving
Her Favorite Part of the Job:
“I love being involved with a little bit of everything and everyone at Friends,” Riane shares. “Working across departments and with vendors to bring projects together for our customers is really rewarding.”
Favorite Project:
Riane especially enjoys projects that allow her to update and improve internal office spaces for the department itself, making work flow even better for the team that supports so many clients.
Laura Fahl, Furniture Department Administrator
Laura’s role is all about precision and problem-solving behind the scenes. She ensures that every furniture quote and order is accurate, timely, and well-coordinated between sales, design, vendors, and installation teams.
What Laura Does:
- Collaborates with vendors to confirm accurate specifications, pricing, and discounting
- Tracks lead times and manages price changes to avoid surprises
- Coordinates the “moving parts” to keep projects running smoothly from quote to install
Her Favorite Part of the Job:
“I love being the connection point that keeps everything moving. Building relationships with vendors and teammates makes the job fun,” Laura says. “It’s so rewarding to see all the planning fall into place in a finished project.”
Favorite Projects:
Laura says the team’s purchasing department projects are always exciting because they’re collaborative, fast-paced, and full of variety.
The Power of Teamwork
Riane, Laura, and David work hand-in-hand every day, combining attention to detail, communication, and logistical expertise to bring projects to life.
“We really do have a great flow,” Laura notes. “Everyone brings their strengths to the table to keep things moving and make every project a success.”
From quoting and ordering to delivery and installation, this team proves that great workspaces start with great people. Their dedication ensures that when FriendsOffice delivers your furniture, it’s done with accuracy, care, and a personal touch that big-box providers simply can’t match.
