Furniture Project Highlight: Findlay High School

We’re incredibly proud of this one! FriendsOffice recently completed a school furniture installation for Findlay City Schools High School, updating its spaces with a fresh, functional look.

A few years ago, FCS H.S. secured grant funding to enhance their cafeteria seating, collaborative spaces, and administrative office spaces. Over the next few years, one of our local account managers, Garrett Fleming, worked closely with Findlay High School Principal, Meg Simon, guiding the project through design approvals and execution.

From the initial consultations, our team worked diligently to bring Findlay High School's project vision to life. And it wasn't just about getting updated furniture. It had been decades since they had furniture that fit their space and student body needs. There really wasn't any soft seating and definitely fewer collaborative areas where students could work as groups or study. Their cafeteria tables were so heavy and a challenge to move - not to mention often damaging their largest investment: their flooring! It's no secret that collaboration has been a key component in developing future leaders, and the administrators who had been making do with what was already there deserved to have storage options and more ergonomic features.

So, we started with 2D renderings to map out each space's functionality and later transitioned into detailed 3D renderings, allowing the school to visualize the final outcome before installation began. This is often what many of our clients and customers credit us for: the ability to better visualize their ergonomic office furniture before it's ordered and installed.

Seeing this vision come to life is truly rewarding for all involved. These students and administrators deserve a space that supports organization and collaboration and provides ergonomic comfort, and we’re thrilled to have played a part in making it happen! Meg Simon shared that students have already been seen utilizing the collaborative spaces, and she can tell the team appreciates working in a more organized atmosphere.

The updated spaces include:

  • Cafeteria: There are new cafeteria tables with built-in seating by SICO, plus collaborative soft seating and tables in the windowed alcoves along one side of the cafeteria by the HON Company.

  • Reception Area Outside the Auditorium: There are now high-top tables and bar stools, along with soft seating and small side tables dispersed around columns in this space.

  • Main Entry Reception Station: There's now a welcoming reception area where student leaders will conduct activities.

  • Administrative Offices: This high-traffic administrative space now features sofas, high-top tables with barstools, new reception stations, desks with ample storage, and the well-known HON Ignition task chairs for ergonomic comfort.

Most of the furnishings were sourced from HON, which comes with a lifetime warranty, ensuring that the grant funds were invested in durable, professional, and easy-to-maintain options. The cafeteria tables were provided by SICO, known for their quality and longevity. Meg Simon also mentioned that the installation went almost without a hitch and that our installation team was quiet, clean, and efficient—always great to hear!

"It was such a pleasure to have had the opportunity to partner with FCS in all their furniture needs," said Garrett Fleming, Account Manager.

At FriendsOffice, we take pride in creating functional, inspiring spaces for students and educators. If your school is looking for ergonomic, durable, and collaborative furniture solutions, contact us today for a consultation. Let’s bring your vision to life!
